| It may surprise
you to learn that I have not spent much time at car shows either as a
participant or spectator. Most of my "car time" has been spent
working on them. I entered one show with my 1969
Charger R/T before I sold it. It took First Place in it's class. I
entered one show in a "Hooters" parking lot with my 1966
Barracuda where it's original look, white stripe tires and hub cap
wheels hardly got a second look. Most of the cars were hot rods of some
sort. (No classes, no award) I entered three of my cars in the Landmark
Dodge & North Georgia Mopar show
May 03. The two cars I "restored" placed 3rd in their respective
classes.
I have a new priority now.
Starting late summer 03 I will try to schedule at least one show per month
during the warm months. The cars that I now own, I worked on just for fun
or to improve them a little. I certainly did not work on them with car
shows in mind. I will restore my 1956 Imperial
in the fashion I do for my customers. This car will be a great advertising
tool for my restoration business. I will update this list as the cars I
have restored earn the recognition they deserve.
Well, I didn't do so well
on my plans to attend at least on show per month in the last year. In fact
I didn't attend any other shows till the Landmark
Dodge Southern Classic April 24th, 2004. This year, I only brought one
car. My Richard Petty Charger needs a new flex plate and I sold the 68
FuryIII convertible. My friend Chris and I took the Barracuda back for a
day of fun. I did some minor detailing on the engine and replaced the torn
seat covers. This pleased the judges. My Formula S clone earned a 2nd
place in the A Body stock class.
