#43 NASCAR Dodge Charger

We meet The King, Richard Petty.

I had a dream come true on October 25th, 2003.

While working at the Atlanta Motor Speedway for

the Bass Pro Shops / MBNA 500, The King, Richard

Petty agreed to spend some time with me, my family and

my number 43 Charger. Pit crew member and motor

home driver, Archie Kennedy, let us into the Competitors

Motor Home Parking area where Richard met us for

pictures and autographs. Words alone can not express

my gratitude to Richard, Archie and Martha Jane for this

experience.

There are many reasons Richard Petty is the King of NASCAR racing. He dominated the series from the mid

sixties to the mid seventies. He scored a total of 200 wins, a feat that will never be matched. He has always

represented the sport with dignity and class. I can't name an icon in any arena who would make time in his busy

schedule to "meet and greet" a few fans with only a one week's notice. I was planning on selling my #43 Dodge

Charger. I thought the thrill was gone and that I needed the extra parking space. I told my mom on the phone it

was a very moving experience. I don't mean to be sacrilegious but, it was almost as if God and come down and placed

his hand on my Bible. "You can't sell your Bible after it's been signed by God" ?
